Downey Woodpecker

Downey Woodpecker – $230

The smaller of two look alikes, the Downey Woodpecker is a small but powerful bird that forages along trunks and main branches of large trees. It’s beak is smaller than the body smaller and stockier than the Hairy. For our glass version, the body is hand detailed and kiln fired white and black glass, with minimal flat black and red glass, foiled and soldered. The feet are surface-mounted copper wire. The branches are striated brown glass on a raindrop clear background. The frame is bluing patinaed zinc, measures 7 1/4 ” x 9 1/4″, and presents well on a wall or window.
