Hairy Woodpecker – $250 – SOLD
The larger of two look alikes, the Hairy Woodpecker is a small but powerful bird that forages along trunks and main branches of large trees. It wields a much longer bill than the Downy Woodpecker’s almost thornlike bill. Recreated in glass, the body is comprised of fired white on black glass, and flat textured black, white and red glass, foiled and soldered. The eye is black Swarovski crystal, lacquered for highlights. The branches are striated brown glass on a pebbled clear background. The frame is gunmetal patinaed zinc, measures 8 1/2 ” x 8 1/2″, and presents well on a wall or window.
